Insanity in the White House

The very definition of insanity...
"Doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result each time"

When Bush declared the need for bail-outs and stimulus, the democrats declared it was a bad idea and that it wouldn't work.
Republicans Should Vote Against the Bailout
When Obama declared the need to continue and expand the bail-outs and stimulus, the democrats declared it was a good idea...
Dems' Downfall: Obama's "Unpopular but Necessary" Bailouts?
Now, we know that the bail-outs have largely failed, some of the banks that have received bail-out money have collapsed anyway, Freddie and Fannie are asking for MORE bail-out money...
One more bailout
Jobs continue to be lost:
Obama to Comment Friday on Jobless Report
Employment Situation Summary
And things are only getting worse...
'Recovery Summer' Ends With Economic Pothole

Ok, so what have we learned? Bail-outs and Stimulus DO NOT WORK.
Is that why Obama is planning more stimulus?
White House considering emergency economic stimuli

Therefore, we can conclude one (or more) of several things:
1) Obama and the Democrat Congress are Insane
2) Obama and the Democrat Congress do not learned from History, so they are Doomed to Repeat it
3) Obama and the Democrat Congress is out to destroy America financially, on purpose
4) Obama and the Democrat Congress are simply bone stupid

A little on how bad censorship is getting...

ReWriting History:

The United States Constitution, while over 200 years old, was an inspired document. One that lays out the organization and faoundation of our Government and our Country. It is the current rulling document in our Great Nation, and should be an object of study for anyone and everyone.
Unless you are a Publishing Company with an agenda:
"This book is a product of its time and does not reflect the same values as it would if it were written today. Parents might wish to discuss with their children how views on race, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, and interpersonal relations have changed since this book was written before allowing them to read this classic work." (© Wilder Publications 2008)
Now, why would someone want to "warn" people about reading the Constitution?
Something is seriously wrong with that.
I believe we should read the Constitution and other founding documents. To that end, I would suggest this site, Constituting America.

Not only do we have to contend with people putting warning labels on even the very important documents of our society, but there are other peoples who want to edit and remove other parts of our "reality"...

Former UCLA basketball coach and Hall of Famer John Wooden carried a Seven-Point Creed given to him by his father, Joshua, upon his graduation from grammar school, these are the pints it contained:

Be true to yourself
Make each day your masterpiece
Help others
Drink deeply from good books, especially the Bible
Make friendship a fine art
Build a shelter against a rainy day
Pray for guidance and give thanks for your blessings every day
This is how it was reported by ESPN.

However, the New York Times reported it thusly:

Be true to yourself
Make each day a masterpiece
Help others
Drink deeply from good books
Make friendship a fine art
Build a shelter against a rainy day
Now, you might say that the NYT just "edited it for space", but the article is 3 pages long! Not to mention, they don't use any editing marks, like ellipses or any other indication of them having changed the article...in other words, this smells like they are purposefully withholding information from the reader; i.e. being deceptive or being less than honest.
I'll leave that for you to ponder.

It doesn't just stop there. There is a text book in use in Virginia that has actually edited the Declaration of Independence:

"On Glenn Beck’s May 25 episode, he furiously discussed how history is being rewritten to be politically correct. He pointed to a Virginia State McDonald Publishing History textbook that discussed the Declaration of Independence and said, 'The declaration expanded these ideas that all men are created equal and they are endowed … with certain unalienable rights.' The words 'by their Creator' were removed and replaced by ellipses."
There is a common thread here, the things being removed are the ones with religious meaning! Why is it so important for the liberals to remove religion from our lives and from the history of our great nation?

If you are interested in learning more about this topic, you can take a look at this book:
Forged in Faith: How Faith Shaped the Birth of the Nation

And to top it all off, a Statue of Stalin has been erected as a "monument" at the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, Virginia. Say What? Wait, didn't Stalin's killing machine slaughtered more people than Adolph Hitler and the Nazis did?

The "cherry on top" of my little rant here, is the building of a Muslim Mosque on Ground Zero in New York.
The detractors are calling it a "victory mosque", the symbol of the victory of our enemies. We fight terrorism over seas, yet we allow something like this to happen at home.
My last thought on this:
Here in America, we have religious freedom. Muslims are free to come here, to live, to work, and to worship. Most of them are great people. But if we wanted to go to their country and worship, it would be impossible, unless we are Muslim. They do not allow Christian Churches to be built (for the most part) and they do not recognize "religious freedom".
Shouldn't we be using this as leverage with the Muslim countries around the world? Ask for like treatment? A symbol of peace and cooperation? Why are all the positive aspects AND the negative implications being ignored by the mainstream media?

This is something akin to Censorship.

Finally Victorious, Joseph Raymond McCarthy, Vindicated!

Some of you will remember Joseph McCarthy, of the Red Scare era.
You may also know that he was thoroughly discredited, disgraced.

Looks like McCarthy was just warning us of the very real fact that we had been infiltrated by Communist or Russian Spies.

Amerika the new Communist Society?

Ezra Taft Benson, when speaking about his conversation with Mr. Nikita Sergeyevich Khrushchev, First Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, said the following:

"As we talked face to face he indicated that my grandchildren would live under communism. After assuring him that I expected to do all in my power to assure that his and all other grandchildren would live under freedom he arrogantly declared in substance - You Americans are so gullible. No, you won't accept communism outright but we'll keep feeding you small doses of socialism until you finally wake up and find you already have communism. We won't have to fight you. We'll so weaken your economy until you fall like overripe fruit into our hands."

Where are we today?

A conversation about Lotto

A US Government report concludes that a Lottery doesn't actually work, and in fact, harms the poor, un/under-educated and the minority groups:
Yet, this doesn't stop the Liberals/Progressives from demanding a lottery to "benefit education"...oh, and other studies report how most if any of the money received from lotteries does not benefit education:

The following is a real conversation between me and a "libtard":

Libtard:
"Yah, but your 'government report' is more than 13 years old. Better Luck Next Time!"

Me:
I really wish your earlier statement that my sources are "not current with modern gambling" was true, it might have prevented you from sounding like an idiot:

The following is 5 years old. It proves the 13 year old study is still correct and valid today:
Does the Illinois Lottery pay for education? Well, sort of ...
"Sure, Lottery money does fund education. But that just frees up other cash to be spent elsewhere."
==> Lotteries do not give more money to Education!

"Time to debunk one of the longest running myths in state government ... millions of dollars from losing Illinois Lottery tickets go to fund public education ... There was no requirement the lottery money be on top of what was already there. So, as lottery money comes in, it frees up other state tax money to spend elsewhere. How much education gets in the end is up to the annual political whims of state lawmakers and the governor."
==> i.e, for the slower of the Lemmings here, this means that Lotteries makes no difference to the total dollars spent on education.

The following is only 3 years old. It proves the 13 year old study is still correct and valid today:
Is The Lottery Shortchanging Schools?
"... in Illinois, where the state spends $6.5 billion a year on education, only $619 million, or one-tenth, comes from the lottery. In California, with an $84 billion education budget, the lottery funds only about $1.2 billion, or one-seventieth. In Florida, lottery proceeds cover one-twentieth of state education spending. In New Jersey, it's one-thirtieth; in Texas, one-fiftieth."
==> Lottery does not bring in as much as you would like to think.

"'We thought that it would be a windfall' says Michael Johnson, executive director of the Illinois Association of School Boards. He says the idea that lottery money adds to education funding is a myth.
'The general public -- they were fooled by this,' he says. 'The belief that that's additional money, above and beyond what we would normally get, that's the part that's not true.'"
==> Lottery was sold using a Myth. It is a lie.

"'Well, it's certainly one of the worst votes I ever made,' says former Illinois State Senator Dawn Netsch.
Netsch, whose vote helped pass the Illinois lottery in the 1970s, says lottery money simply replaces tax dollars legislators might spend on education, but instead spend on other projects.
'The lottery becomes part of the big pot of money that funds the basic functions of state government,' Netsch said. "
==> The people "benefiting" from the Lottery and the people who Passed it are both telling you, "it isn't true".

"In Florida, where lottery proceeds are a billion dollars a year, spending per pupil…has dropped nine spots from 37th to 46th in the nation since voters approved a lottery 20 years ago."
==> Spending per pupil decreases, even with a Lottery.

"In fact, our investigation of government spending in the 24 states that dedicate lottery funds for education yields a stunningly bad report card. The percentage of state spending on education is down or flat in 21 of those states from coast to coast."
==> Spending on Education decreased in nearly HALF the states with Lotteries, or did not increase at all.

"In Florida, former governor Lawton Childs, once called the lottery 'A great hoax on the people.'”
"This year, as he floated a proposal to privatize his state’s lottery, Illinois Governor Rod Blagovich called the lottery a 'shell game.'”
"... Dawn Netsh, who now teaches at Northwestern Law School, agrees. 'Many people, at least, still think of the lottery as being sort of an add-on, a supplement,' says Netsch. 'It never was that. It was a shell game from the beginning.'"
==> "Hoax", "Shell Game"... the words used to describe the Lottery.

The following is only 3 years old. It proves the 13 year old study is still correct and valid today:
For Schools, Lottery Payoffs Fall Short of Promises
"...North Carolina’s governor, Mike Easley, finally delivered on his promise to start a lottery...some voters...were persuaded by his argument that North Carolina’s students were missing out on as much as $500 million in aid annually as residents crossed the border to buy lottery tickets elsewhere."
==> I have heard this argument on this forum.

"Pitches like this have become popular among lawmakers who...have sold gambling as a savior for cash-starved public schools..."
==> Are you one of these "lawmakers" trying to persuade us toward the lottery.

"...a New York Times examination of lottery documents, as well as interviews with lottery administrators and analysts, finds that lotteries accounted for less than 1 percent to 5 percent of the total revenue for K-12 education last year in the states that use this money for schools."
==> Very small numbers.

"In reality, most of the money raised by lotteries is used simply to sustain the games themselves, including marketing, prizes and vendor commissions...nearly every state has increased, or is considering increasing, the size of its prizes — further shrinking the percentage of each dollar going to education and other programs."
==> I wonder what the Lottery administrators make per year? We hear about exxon executives and huge bonuses in the banking industry, but no one ever mentions how much the people running the lotteries walk away with. What about fraud and waste in these programs?

"In some states, lottery dollars have merely replaced money for education."
==> In other words, they reduce TAX spending on education and replace the lost revenue with Lottery money. The total spent on education does not change.

"...states eager for more players are introducing games that emphasize instant gratification and more potentially addictive forms of gambling."
==> The Camel's nose under the tent, so-to-speak. Is this where we want to go? Turn Utah into another Nevada?
The rest of that article is also very telling about the goals and uses of Lottery monies. Percentages used by schools are shrinking, Lottery monies being diverted away from Schools to the General fund (to cover short-falls), the misconceptions, misunderstandings and lies that accompany Lotteries...
Sounds great! (not!)

The following is only 2 years old. It proves the 13 year old study is still correct and valid today:
COLUMN: Lottery’s problems outweigh its merits
"Oklahomans voted in favor of the Oklahoma Education Act in 2004, which introduced the lottery to supplement funding of public education from pre-kindergarten to the university level. With such an innocuous and noble sounding title, people were misled into thinking the lottery would solve Oklahoma’s funding woes through generating money by joining the 42-state bandwagon that has a state lottery."
==> i.e. Oklahoma is full of Lemmings.

"Such funding is similar to using cigarette taxes to fund a cancer hospital ... "
"Using the lottery to fund public education is similar to taxing the poor over the rich."
"Educated people typically do not play the lottery since they understand extremely poor odds."
==> What do you do for funding after everyone is educated and not playing the Lottery?

"Rich people typically do not play the lottery since they already have plenty of money."
"Lottery players who buy tickets on a regular basis are typically people with low incomes hoping for that elusive bit of luck."
==> i.e. Lotteries prey on the Poor.

"Since the Oklahoma lottery has already fallen short of the projected $300 million, Oklahoma could not compete with a higher payout and another neighbor seeking the money of jackpot hunters."
"... the revenue for the latest fiscal year was $14.6 million below projections."
==> i.e. Lotteries do not stop people from going across state lines and buying Lottery Tickets in other states. Lotteries may not meet expectations.

"Of course, schools always need money, but the trouble comes with how the money is handled, not how it is spent ... the question is not whether there is enough money, but whether it is being spent wisely."
==> NOW we get down to the real question. If the money is being wasted and/or misused, having a Lottery will NOT fix that. It will only mean there is more money to waste or misuse.

The following is only 2 years old. It proves the 13 year old study is still correct and valid today:
This is only 5 years old, and is an official Florida Financial Report
In a report from "The School District of Palm Beach County, Florida" entitled, "FLORIDA LOTTERY FACTS – WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?", (I have the PDF if you want it) you can read the following;
"Lottery proceeds have not been an enhancement to education because they have essentially just replaced a portion of the general revenue dollars that were allocated to education prior to the creation of the state lottery. Instead of receiving additional funds to provide increased educational opportunities, school districts are forced to use lottery funds for daily operating activities to make up for the reduction in general revenue allocations."
==> Lotteries do not give Education "more money".

Not to mention these other articles:
Laney warns against using lottery to fund education
"'It's not going to change the amount of money that goes to education, except that it may decrease it,'" said Laney, D-Hale Center.
==> Might be the only Democrat in Texas to Oppose the Lottery.

" ... the people of Texas want the lottery proceeds dedicated [to education] because voters believed the money would be going to education when they approved the lottery."
==> The people of Texas were LIED to, so that the Lottery would pass.

"Sen. Teel Bivins, chairman of the Senate Education Committee, said he wouldn't oppose dedicating lottery profits even though doing it would not result in more money for schools."
==> Even with the money dedicated to education, "it would not result in more money for schools"...

1 in 3 Lottery Winners Broke Within 5 Years
and
Winning Big Can Lead To Folks Filing Bankruptcy
==> You have a better chance at losing everything AFTER you win the Lottery than before.

Why poor people win the lottery
"... studies show that the heaviest lottery players -- the 20% of players who contribute 82% of lottery revenue -- disproportionately are low-income, minority men who have less than a college education."
==> Lotteries negatively affect the poor, un/under-educated, minorities. So, if you are a Rich, Elitist, Racist Snob, you will support a Lottery.

"'It really is government undercutting what government's role should be, which is encouraging people in financial straits to be responsible with their money', says Tom Grey of the National Coalition Against Legalized Gambling."
==> The deception doesn't stop at "educational lottery" when lottery dollars may or may not fund education, it also permeates personal financial responsibility. Are you more personally financially responsible if you play lottery or save your money (pay your bills, feed your kids, see a doctor, etc)?

"In a 1999 survey by the Consumer Federation of America and financial services firm Primerica, 40% of Americans with incomes between $25,000 and $35,000 -- and nearly one-half of respondents with an income of $15,000 to $25,000 -- thought winning the lottery would give them their retirement nest egg. Overall, 27% of respondents said that their best chance to gain $500,000 in their lifetime is via a sweepstakes or lottery win, the survey said.
Consider this: If you take that $150 a year and put it into a 401(k) or IRA at age 30, you'll have $28,000 by age 65, assuming a reasonable 8% rate of return, says Jim Holtzman, an accountant and certified financial planner with Legend Financial Advisors, in Pittsburgh. That figure doesn't even consider the added boost of contributing to a plan in which a company matches contributions. (See "Start investing with just $100.")
To save that $500,000 nest egg, you'd have to tuck away a little less than $100 a month starting at age 21. What's more likely: that you can find an extra $100 a month -- or that the 1-in-several-million odds of even the smallest seven-figure jackpot suddenly tilt in your favor?"
==> Only idiots would play the lottery to provide their retirement.

And what are some of the other side effects of a Lottery? You cannot just proclaim that "it will fund schools" without considering the rest of the impact on people in Utah. They do "impact studies" for new construction, so lets do an "impact study" for a Lottery:
Illinois Lottery: The Poor Play More
"John Brown started buying lottery tickets the day he turned 18...'On average, I’d say [I spend] about $25 a day,' said Brown, now 36, a laid-off laborer."
==> Ok, so he is using his unemployment checks to play the lottery. I wonder how the rest of the people in Illinois feel about having their tax dollars spend on gambling?

“'Lotteries are, in essence, a form of regressive taxation that distributes wealth and resources away from those who can least afford to pay,' said Paul Street, vice-president for research and planning at the Chicago Urban League. He said he was not surprised by the Reporter’s findings. '[Lotteries] especially extract wealth from communities of color, and most particularly from African Americans.'"
==> A lottery seems to be a "racist tax". Are you a racist "wolverine"? Would you like to institute a "racist tax" in Utah and call it a "lottery"?

"'The state’s deficits approached or even surpassed $1 billion this past year,' she said. 'Had the lottery not transferred $555 million to the state, the budget shortfall could have been significantly larger.'”
==> What is to stop the State Government from using lottery money like the Federal Government does with Social Security? Borrow against it? Reallocate it? The $555 MILLION here didn't even make it to the "schools" or for "education" of any kind.

State lotteries prey upon poor
"Proponents of a state lottery in Tennessee love to talk about well-funded schools, college scholarships and an end to state budget problems."
==> Sounds like some people in this forum, right?

"According to a recent Duke University study African-Americans, high school dropouts and people in the study's lowest income category spend the most money per capita on lottery tickets."
==> A high price on the people who cannot afford it.

"A few--very few--poor customers might even get lucky, strike it rich and turn their lives around."
==> We will discuss this in a minute. It isn't true.

"The odds against winning are astronomical, though, and for every lucky soul who spends the last few dollars of each month's paycheck to buy a handful of lottery tickets and wins millions, thousands more are just throwing their last dollars down the drain. Those extra few dollars could have bought Junior a good meal or a warm hat to wear on the long walk to school each morning."
==> Too high a price to pay. The "uneducated" and "destitute" are given a false "hope" with the Lottery.

There are some solutions, however, that might work, if we could find our way to them:
1) Reduce the number of administrators in the school districts
2) Increase the number of charter schools (the boards and administrators are mostly volunteers)
3) Consolidate school districts (no more of the city and county...just use county borders or state borders...)
4) Do not allow illegals into school system
5) Increase burden on families with more children
6) Reduce Legislator salaries and put excess back into Education
7) Reduce Legislator staff and other state/city/county staff, end "double dipping" and put all the savings into Education
8) All lobbyist "bribes" go into the general Education fund
9) Education budget as a percentage of the overall budget, and can only be increased
10) Normalize School Districts (spread the wealth)
and if you get really ambitious...
11) Do matching dollars. For every dollar donated to schools via private individuals and companies, the government matches those funds
12) Set up "public options" for education. Allow individuals and businesses to purchase "shares" of a school or school system
13) Get government out of education all together
(Disclaimer, I may or may not advocate some or all of these solutions.)

I am not a "liberal" but I sure wouldn't want to do what these liberals on this list are suggesting; it even goes against their core philosophy:

"In the nineteenth century, the excesses of unbridled capitalism created a change in liberal doctrine, which began to view government’s role not only as protecting individual liberties but also as regulating business and assisting the poor."

I have even compared the addition of a Lottery to the addition of a Cigarette Tax (or any Sin Tax):

The other side of the Lottery coin is New Taxes; something like a cigarette tax.
Now, how does a cigarette tax differ from a Lottery?

* They are both "voluntary" forms of "taxation". No one is forcing anyone to smoke, no one is forcing anyone to buy cigarettes.
* Lotteries mainly affect the Poor, Utah's poverty rate is around 10%. The smoker rate in Utah is about 9%, so taxing Cigarettes affects fewer people.
* I would assume the "drop-out" rate for High School is about 12% because the Graduation Rate is at 88%. So only about 12% of Utahans are "uneducated" or "under-educated".
* Like the lottery, the poor and uneducated are more likely to smoke.
* Minorities (especially African Americans) are more likely to play the lottery.
* And it appears that whites are more likely to smoke.

I realize that things are more complicated than this, and especially since the population of Utah is about 58% LDS, (they "normally" don't smoke or gamble), so there is far more study to do on this issue than simple numbers -- but if you look at what is listed here, and the way that Liberals, especially those on this list, reacted to the Cigarette Tax; you have to ask yourself, why are they so "for" a Lottery when it will affect a similar cross-section of our state in a similar way?

For the liberals to support a lottery but not a cigarette tax is what is called "Hypocrisy" (and/or racism).
**It is OK to tax the poor, uneducated minorities with a Lottery, but not to tax the poor, uneducated whites with a Cigarette Tax.**
I guess they justify it with something like, "it is ok as long as it benefits education".
If that is the justification, then why not earmark the cigarette tax money for education, then they can violate their core philosophy in equity of both races.

Absolute Proof Obama's Birth Certificate is a Fake

I don't even have to post photographs, or photoshopping, or anything...
I can give it to you in just a few words...

Pres. Obama was born to the name Barack Hussein Obama jr. But at one point, he was known as Barry Soetoro, then again as Barack...
Any time you legally change your name (for passports, for school registrations, for social security, for jobs, etc...) you must file changes to the Birth Certificate.

Where are those changes that were filed for his Birth Certificate?

This is assuming, of course, that Obama wasn't committing fraud...

The GAO says, we're financially doomed

I borrowed this from "Conservatives for Change", I hope they don't mind...

Former U.S. Comptroller General David Walker on The Federal Fiscal Crisis:

David Walker spent his life working for the GAO and keep the books on the federal government. He was their top accountant and he quit that post to warn the American people of the fiscal nightmare that is coming to our country....I think it is about time to listen to what he is telling everyone.
The GAO is the "Government Accountability Office"

The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) is an independent, nonpartisan agency that works for Congress. Often called the "congressional watchdog," GAO investigates how the federal government spends taxpayer dollars...

...Our Mission is to support the Congress in meeting its constitutional responsibilities and to help improve the performance and ensure the accountability of the federal government for the benefit of the American people. We provide Congress with timely information that is objective, fact-based, nonpartisan, nonideological, fair, and balanced...

...We support congressional oversight by

- auditing agency operations to determine whether federal funds are being spent efficiently and effectively;
- investigating allegations of illegal and improper activities;
- reporting on how well government programs and policies are meeting their objectives;
- performing policy analyses and outlining options for congressional consideration; and
- issuing legal decisions and opinions, such as bid protest rulings and reports on agency rules.

We advise Congress and the heads of executive agencies about ways to make government more efficient, effective, ethical, equitable and responsive.

Our work leads to laws and acts that improve government operations, saving the government and taxpayers billions of dollars.

When you are Enlightened, you see throught the Lies

We are constantly fed a lot of BS by the Government. They tell us "everything is fine" and "we are 'on top of it'"... but the more we think we know, the less we actually know. There is something going on here, and we have no clue about it.

Some of the points to consider:
Why is it so hard to plug the oil spill in the Gulf?
Why does it seem that Obama isn't taking that seriously?
Why does the government not take nuclear power seriously?
Why does the government not take alternative fuels seriously?
Why would we do "cap and trade" and "carbon credits" which allow us to ignore helping the environment and put the burden on other people in other countries?
Why are we spending money we don't have?
Why are we so in debt?
Why is the deficit getting bigger?
Why do we talk about "sustainability" with the environment but not with fiscal policy?
Why is the recession continuing?
How are there banks that are "too big to fail" when there are 4000+ banks in the USA?
With the stimulus and bail-out programs failing, why are we continuing them?
The bail-outs and stimulus were a "bad idea" under Bush, so why are they a "good idea" under Obama?

Anyway, I think you get the idea... we need to be asking more questions than these, and we need the answers...

In case you were wondering, we are getting smart to what is going on, and it is scaring the "powers that be"...

Brzezinski Decries “Global Political Awakening” During CFR Speech

When we start to see through the fog, the constant "spin" and "distraction" that our government keeps giving us, when we start to ask questions, we become "enlightened" and their lies are exposed.

No-one foresaw the internet. Information travels faster than light and the truth is set free. It is our most powerful weapon against the disinformation and misdirection that we get from the mainstream media.

Do yourself a favor. Don't take my word for it, LOOK IT UP YOURSELF. Get educated. Learn BOTH SIDES. Then you can make informed and intelligent decisions.

Global Cooling Confirmed

Remember back a while when I said that "global warming is a myth"? Well, I have also been reading on other science and learning about AWG (as the progressives and liberals call it), and how it fits into Climate Change...
Well, there is way too much information to go into in a single post here, but you can search and read the posts I have made...
Here is one of the latest fiascos in the Climate Change debate:

The Mystery of Global Warming's Missing Heat

Some 3,000 scientific robots that are plying the ocean have sent home a puzzling message. These diving instruments suggest that the oceans have not warmed up at all over the past four or five years.
Really? According to the IPCC this shouldn't be happening.

"There has been a very slight cooling, but not anything really significant," Willis says. So the buildup of heat on Earth may be on a brief hiatus. "Global warming doesn't mean every year will be warmer than the last. And it may be that we are in a period of less rapid warming."
This is just as good as the other excuses I have heard; "just because we have 'global warming' doesn't mean the earth actually gets warmer!"
He even contradicts himself, "THERE HAS BEEN A VERY SLIGHT COOLING" and "LESS RAPID WARMING"? It is either one or the other.

ANyway, I am sure we will get more information as time goes on...but I thought you would like to see that science isn't something you get by "consensus", you get it by testing and observations.

Bail-Outs and the Money Machine

If you though to yourself, "Self, these bail-outs seem too good to be true...and what is it with this 'too big to fail thing'?"

Then you aren't alone.

Take a look at who is making the money off your tax dollars, not just in the "bail-out" gifts, but in the resulting "financial disaster"...

Obama, a Dictator?

Some say it is impossible, and no one in the Government would seriously consider something so radical, but consider for a moment, what some people are saying...

Lets start with Woody Allen, yes, the Actor/Director.
“I am pleased with Obama. I think he’s brilliant. The Republican Party should get out of his way and stop trying to hurt him.”
"it would be good…if he could be a dictator for a few years because he could do a lot of good things quickly."

Or how about Rosey O'Donnell?
“Seize their assets today. Take over the country, I don’t care. Issue and executive order. Say BP guess what…call it socialism, call it communism, call it anything you want. Lets watch Rush Limbaugh explode…on TV when he talks….SEIZE THE ASSETS, take over BP.”

Hmmm. If we have "normal people" talking about making Obama into a dictator, what are some of the Media Pundits saying?
How about Ed Schultz at MSNBC?
“Mr. President, I want to see the boot on the neck of BP tonight. I want to see some finger-pointing whether it's in your personality or not and it's OK tonight to act kind of like a dictator and call the shots saying this is the way it's going to be. BP has lied to the citizens of this country long enough. It's been one misstep after another. One lie, one half-truth after another. It's time for the President of the United States to lay it out there in full force for the citizens of the United States and make it very clear that BP is going to make us whole, whole again and whole for a long time.”
“Don't you think this is a moment where President Obama has to make sure that he lets everybody know that he's calling the shots, and almost in words of maybe a dictator, that this is the way we're going to do it? And when I hear reported today by Chuck Todd here on MSNBC that the Obama administration is negotiating with BP over a third independent party as to whether they're going to oversee the claims process, it just makes me think that BP is calling the shots and not the American people.”

Ouch. Are there any in the Political arena that support or think of Obama as a Dictator?
Lets ask Representative Sam Johnson (R-Tex.), a member of the Ways and Means Committee, who broke up the House decorum by speaking the truth. He denounced President Obama as a "fascist dictator," something that, previously, only Lyndon LaRouche had the balls to say in public. It is all becoming that obvious! Johnson's remarks were delivered during a tumultuous mark-up and were heard by an LPAC representative who was in the hearing.

Maybe I should describe to you what constitutes a "Dictator", the following is from Wikipedia
"A dictator is a ruler (e.g. absolutist or autocratic) who assumes sole and absolute power (sometimes but not always with military control) but without hereditary ascension such as an absolute monarch. When other states call the head of state of a particular state a dictator, that state is called a dictatorship. The word originated as the title of a magistrate in ancient Rome appointed by the Senate to rule the republic in times of emergency (see Roman dictator and justitium)."
"The term 'dictator' is comparable to, but not synonymous with, the ancient concept of a tyrant; initially 'tyrant', like 'dictator', did not carry negative connotations. A wide variety of leaders coming to power in a number of different kinds of regimes, such as military juntas, single-party states and civilian governments under personal rule, have been described as dictators. For example, Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, and Kim Jong-il."
We have a process in this country for making laws and setting policies. This process is specifically designed to prevent a Dictatorship or Tyranny. It is supported by our "separation of powers" which means that one man, the President, or any one group, the House, Senate or SCOTUS, cannot "dictate" law.
Yet, Obama is circumventing this process with things like "executive orders" and flat out "abuses of power", see the following examples:

1) EO 13524 ammends EO 12425, Dec 16, 2009, whereby an international police ‘Force’ is authorized to act within the U.S. that is no longer subject to 4th Amendment Search and Seizure (expanding the ‘Force’ and disarming Americans).

2) "The use of executive power came to a head this week when Mr. Obama confronted Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Republican leader, about nominations held up in the Senate. In a meeting with Congressional leaders at the White House on Tuesday, Mr. Obama turned to Mr. McConnell and vowed to use his power to appoint officials during Senate recesses if his nominations were not cleared."

3) "Several Senators have learned of a possible plan by the Obama Administration that would provide a mass Amnesty for the nation's 11-18 million illegal aliens. Led by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), eight Senators addressed a letter to the President asking for answers to questions about a plan that would allow DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano to provide an amnesty if they can't secure enough votes for a bill in the Senate."

For Obama to take upon himself the sole responsibility of making these changes makes him a Dictator. Even if he does not accomplish anything by it, he would be a Dictator in word and desire, if not in actuality.

Not only that, but he has lied about several things related to the abuse of power:
"Already, Mr. Obama has had to reconcile his campaign-trail criticism of Mr. Bush for excessive use of so-called signing statements to bypass parts of legislation with his own use of such tactics. After a bipartisan furor in Congress last year, Mr. Obama stopped issuing such signing statements, but aides said last month that he still reserves the right to ignore sections of bills he considers unconstitutional if objections have been lodged previously by the executive branch."

If you remember, he said he wouldn't do it, it was an abuse of power...but now...the student has become the master.

Similar in severity is Obama's promise to not have any lobbyists in his White House...and recently, in the state of the union address he said:
"[W]e’ve excluded lobbyists from policymaking jobs or seats on federal boards and commissions."
Well, the truth is much scarier. One of the hallmarks of a corrupt government is to put "your people" into positions of power. Look at the (and growing) list of Policy Makers that have been lobbyists within the CURRENT White House:

Eric Holder, attorney general nominee, was registered to lobby until 2004 on behalf of clients including Global Crossing, a bankrupt telecommunications firm [now confirmed].

Tom Vilsack, secretary of agriculture nominee, was registered to lobby as recently as last year on behalf of the National Education Association.

William Lynn, deputy defense secretary nominee, was registered to lobby as recently as last year for defense contractor Raytheon, where he was a top executive.

William Corr, deputy health and human services secretary nominee, was registered to lobby until last year for the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, a non-profit that pushes to limit tobacco use.

David Hayes, deputy interior secretary nominee, was registered to lobby until 2006 for clients, including the regional utility San Diego Gas & Electric.

Mark Patterson, chief of staff to Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, was registered to lobby as recently as last year for financial giant Goldman Sachs.

Ron Klain, chief of staff to Vice President Joe Biden, was registered to lobby until 2005 for clients, including the Coalition for Asbestos Resolution, U.S. Airways, Airborne Express and drug-maker ImClone.

Mona Sutphen, deputy White House chief of staff, was registered to lobby for clients, including Angliss International in 2003.

Melody Barnes, domestic policy council director, lobbied in 2003 and 2004 for liberal advocacy groups, including the American Civil Liberties Union, the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights, the American Constitution Society and the Center for Reproductive Rights.

Cecilia Munoz, White House director of intergovernmental affairs, was a lobbyist as recently as last year for the National Council of La Raza, a Hispanic advocacy group.

Patrick Gaspard, White House political affairs director, was a lobbyist for the Service Employees International Union.

Michael Strautmanis, chief of staff to the president's assistant for intergovernmental relations, lobbied for the American Association of Justice from 2001 until 2005.

Jocelyn Frye, who used to lobby on employment and gender discrimination, became director of policy and projects for Michelle Obama

He is now being called out by several people on "the hill" for what he is, a liar:
When he makes the statement in the State of the Union Address;
"With all due deference to separation of powers, last week, the Supreme Court reversed a century of law that I believe will open the floodgates for special interests, including foreign corporations, to spend without limit in our elections. I don't think American elections should be bankrolled by America's most powerful interests or, worse, by foreign entities. They should be decided by the American people. And I urge Democrats and Republicans to pass a bill that helps correct some of these problems."
Judge Alito says, "Not True".
And we all remember the "You Lie" shout out during a speech by Obama in which he said the new Health Care bill would not subsidize illegal immigrants. Here are some concerns at the time Sen. Wilson made his remark:
"Critics say there is no way to enforce the ban on subsidies for undocumented workers, since the Democratic majority in the House turned back a Republican effort to explicitly stiffen citizenship checks."
"Some Republicans argue that the measure has left a loophole for undocumented relatives of legal residents to be covered. But Treadwell disputes that, telling CNN that based on her reading of the bills, "There is no loophole currently."
The fact of the matter is, if an illegal immigrant steps into an emergency room at any hospital and receives care that they then do not pay for, YOU AND I GET STUCK WITH THE BILL. Hospitals CANNOT turn away anyone needing care.
Read the references below, but understand that Sen. Wilson was responding truthfully at the time; right after the Dems killed the amendments that would have prevented illegals from sucking the system. It was later corrected, but at the time, he was correct, the President had lied:
http://www.factcheck.org/2010/01/obamas-state-of-the-union-address/

Now, back to one of my original assertions about a Dictator;
another individual, Rep. Barney Frank, clearly states that there is no such thing as "too much regulation". What do you think, America? Can we have too much regulation? How does "no such thing as too much regulation" fit within a FREE society?

Then there is the power he continues to ascribe to himself, via Congress. He can now decide, all by himself, to shut down access to the internet. Shouldn't that be left up to the workings of Congress? Why would we give one man such powers?
The same thing is happening with Cap&Trade, Offshore Drilling Ban, and other bits of legislation. If he continues down this road, the next president could continue the practice, and so on, till we have no use of a Congress, the president will simply have all the power, i.e. he will be a dictator.

And don't forget, more circumvention of the system, with secret appointments of people...
Obama Bypasses Senate to Install Controversial “Rationing Czar” at Medicare Center
Hmmm... didn't the conservatives say that Rationing would happen? They called them "death panels", but they did say there wouldn't be enough money, so someone would have to choose who gets service and who does not.
Score one for the good guys...but because there is NOTHING to stop the Bad Guys (with that super majority and all) it doesn't mean much now...

These are scary times, and we should be vigilant in our watch of the Government. With so many people wanting to regulate us and control us and circumvent the process...it is only a matter of time before we fall under that list of infamous Dictators...

Ideas actually can make a difference

I have been conversing with people on several discussion boards, some full of liberals who don't seem to have any idea how to make changes. They come up with a single idea, regardless of how bad it is, or how obviously it will fail.
I keep encouraging people to come up with new ideas, and one person did. They suggested that maybe, to save some money, to improve our social services, we should require drug testing for people using the social services.

Of course, the liberals cried about that idea. The bleeding hearts...

I took a lot of these ideas and passed them along. I tried to give credit, but with names like they are on the internet, I am afraid I couldn't be very accurate.
Or, because I do encourage people to put their ideas in the hands of those that can make change, they may have sent it in themselves. It really doesn't matter, it was a good idea and, well, read on...

The better news is, the Tea Party is having an effect, people in Washington seem to be doing some listening...

Hatch proposes drug testing for welfare, unemployment recipients

We should support this idea. It would help.

How bad at math can one be?

Have you ever wondered how the RIAA and the MPAA and the other orgs come up with those numbers on piracy?
How someone who downloads 1000 songs (songs that sell for $0.99 each) can suddenly owe $250,000 or several millions of dollars in damages?
There is definitely something wrong with their math...well, the DOJ and GOA are wondering the same thing:

You would have thought that after the LEAD in the paint on children's toys and in dinnerware was well above LEGAL tolerance, we would have stopped importing crap from China.
However, I guess we haven't learned our lesson...

So just remember, when you want cheap crap, you get what you pay for!

Literally...

In the last little while there have been some fantastic things happen...like earth quakes (Haiti and Chile), flooding, odd weather, harsh winters, and more...
Take a look at this one:
Giant Guatemalan 'Sinkhole' Is Worse Than We Thought

Not only are things bad, but the Governments aren't telling us just how bad...
With the Oil leaking into the Gulf, it makes you wonder just how bad it really is, what with Obama on vacation and all...maybe it isn't as bad as he would like us to think?
Or is it worse?

Watch or Economy Fail

There are 2 things here:
#1 - Obama keeps telling us that things are improving, yet all we see is how things are getting worse...
First, the new taxes on small businesses to support Obamacare
Second, joblessness continues to increase, yet funding for those families is being cut
Third, the stock market continues to decline
Fourth, the government is still making bad decisions
Fifth, the dollar continues to lose value

#2 - To top it all off, investors are saying that a "safe investment" is T-Bonds and Notes?

Sorry people! If you want your investments SAFE you need to start investing in hard investments like Gold and other precious metals. Or real-estate. Or any number of other things. But your investments should be more diverse or you will go down with the sinking ship.
I am worried about my retirement investments...they have been doing ok, but if the economy keeps going in this direction, it will be worthless within the next ten years.

Immigration v. Illegal Immigration and the LDS

Some Latino Mormons Say Church Should Take A Stand On Immigration

"Some Utah Latinos, who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, are calling for President Thomas S. Monson to take an official, public position on immigration."

The LDS Church already has, in the 12th Article of Faith:
"We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law."

And in the 13th Article of Faith:
"We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men..."

The article continues:
“The church needs to have a position in favor or opposed to Latinos,”

Huh? The Church takes no stand for or against any ethnic group or nationality. They take a position for all people, or it wouldn't be a GLOBAL Church.
The only position the Church CAN take is to support, honor, and obey the LAW of the LAND in which the Church is operating.
It has nothing to do with being in favor of or opposed to Latinos.
All are welcome into the LDS Church. But if people are here illegally, and if they are using stolen identities and working illegally in the US THEN there is an issue that needs to be discussed within the Church: maybe the Church should remind these people that if they break the law, they can lose their Church membership, or at a minimum, their temple recommend.

The LDS Church will always side with "what is true and right", not with what someone wants to be right, when it clearly isn't.

Gas was cheaper in West Yellowstone, and in Bozeman, than in Utah.

Exxon v. Deepwater

The worst OIL disaster to happen in recent years was Exxon Valdez. It happened on March 24th, 1989. Within the first 3 months of Bush I's term in office.
In fact, we are still experiencing issues from that spill

Now, 18 months under a new administration, we see something similar, but far worse, the Deepwater Horizon incident

When we look back at the Exxon incident, we see a lot of sharp and biting criticism of the then president for not having acted fast enough to take over control of that spill:
14 days after Exxon = Peter Jennings: Well, it took him a while to make up his mind, 14 days after the oil began pouring out of the Exxon Valdez into Prince William Sound, President Bush has ordered the federal government to take over control of the effort to clean it up, which makes it a hotter political issues, too little, too late.
15 days after Exxon = Dallas Morning News: Decision to send troops and equipment is long overdue.
22 days after Exxon = Seattle Times: Alaskan oil spill, crisis not under control, despite all of the promises. The inexcusable delay in the clean-up of the Exxon Valdez oil spill continues. More than a week after President Bush expressed interest in the catastrophe, little federal help has even arrived on the oil soaked beaches of Prince William Sound.
27 days after Exxon = Bush administration yesterday faced sharp criticism from the U.S. congress for not decisively taking control of the Exxon Valdez oil spill as senators called for new laws that would require the president to direct such clean-up efforts in the future. Senator majority leader George Mitchell said George Bush was, quote, slow to comprehend the magnitude of this disaster and valuable hours were lost after the May 24th spill in Alaska’s Prince William Sound when it might still have been controllable.

April 20, 2010, Deepwater Horizon.
Would you like to see the criticism of President Obama for his failure to act fast enough? For his failure to federalize the clean-up efforts?
10. Do a Google News search for "Deepwater Horizon Obama" and read...
09. Mechanic testifies BP made fatal decision on rig
‎08. Obama visits as Gulf oil spreads
‎07. Reforms Slow to Arrive at Drilling Agency
‎06. BP's Robots to Begin Next Attempt to Curb Record Oil Spill
‎05. Holiday weekend is ominous sign of hard times to come for ...
‎04. The American public could partly blame themselves for the BP oil ...
‎03. Oil leak an 'environmental crime'
‎02. Failings on Deepwater Horizon oil rig put thousands of jobs at risk
‎01. In Gulf Coast oil response, modern meets primeval

Well, isn't that interesting? Not a single criticism, and it has been 41 days, as of this writing.
What happened? Did the media forget how to report criticism of our President? Are people just unwilling to criticise him? Why the different treatment?
Instead, we seem to get a lot of excuse making:
Deepwater Horizon Well Now Worst Oil Spill on Record‎ = this isn't true. (see information on Gulf War Oil Spill, Lakeview Gusher, Ixtoc I, etc.)
DEEPWATER HORIZON NOT OBAMA'S KATRINA.‎

Then, instead of dealing with this "national crisis", being "on the ground" and dealing with it, he is off on Vacation.
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/05/27/stressed-tone-deaf-obama-chicago-vacation-raises-eyebrows/?test=latestnews
No wonder we have media pundits telling us how much he cares...they have to keep reminding us, or we might forget:
James Carville: I think it's a man who cares
Suzanne Malveaux: This administration, A, cares about this.
James Carville: This is a man who cares.
Plaquemines Parish President: I truly believe he cares.
Diana Sawyer: ...to show that he cares.
David Gergen: President Obama clearly cares.

To the families and friends of the Victims in the Deepwater Horizon incident, I apologize for our President. His inaction and the inaction of our Federal Government is letting this spill go on, destroying the ecology and economy, and he has failed to recognize the other victims in all this.
The rest of us haven't forgotten you, or the family/friends you lost in the explosion. We haven't forgotten that lively hoods are affected and the ecology is being destroyed. We speak out, we write letters, and we talk with people to get them to remember too.

The IRS is Evil

Some of the new legislation that has been passed in the last little while, YES, including Obamacare, gives the IRS new and exciting powers to tax the peoples of this great country.

The IRS now wants everyone, every small business, every sale of some item, even from private sales between private individuals to be reported as income.
The problem is, most of that stuff is not "income" but a simple transformation of money into something worth money back into money...

This is the same principal as income in the first place, being an equivalency of labor, instead of food or product.

Back in the day, I would work for 12 hours on a farm. The fruit of that labor was not an hourly wage, but a bunch of corn or wheat or something else...chairs, houses, or something build or grown by the labor of my hands.
Today, instead of reaping a direct reward in physical goods, I get paid a dollar amount for my labor. When you look at it, money is equal to labor, the goods grown or produced are equal to labor...
Now I take those goods and trade them for something else I need, either in barter or in money.
Now I take the dollars I earn and I trade them for something I need, like products or services...

However, now, the IRS is illegally taking my money. If you read the IRSC, the law that governs the IRS, you see the definition of "income" is money earned from a FOREIGN source or money earned ON TOP OF your investments (interest, etc)...THOSE are the only things that the IRS can legally tax.
But at least NOW you know why the IRS is so against a FLAT TAX or the FAIR TAX systems.

And now, the IRS will be given even more power to grab your money from ANY SALE of ANY ITEM...
IRS Wants a Cut of Sales On eBay and Craigslist

When will it stop?
The cost of everything continues to go up, the income we receive goes down, or investments are tanking, the economy is in shambles with no improvement in sight...and they still want MORE.

It must stop.

Immigration v. Illegal Immigration and Ignorance

People really have no idea what they are talking about...it is one of the most sad things I have seen. If we read the following article:
Immigration debate frequently hits home in Utah
We see a perfect example of what I mean...

Theresa Martinez, an associate professor at the University of Utah, says:
"It's really frightening stuff that's happening in Arizona,"

That is enlightening, as NOTHING has happened in Arizona that wasn't already LAW on the FEDERAL LAW BOOKS. If she is so scared by "Arizona Law", where was this fear when the Federal Law was enacted? And is this fear NEW because of Arizona? Or just a CONTINUED fear because of the Original Federal Law that Arizona plans to enforce?

"Racial profiling is not allowed under the law, but Martinez says it leaves law enforcement no choice -- and she says the future would be dramatically different for not only illegal immigrants, but U.S. citizens as well."

Really? And are the Federal ICE agents "given no choice" and do they "Racially Profile" in violation of the law?
Why do detractors of the Illegal Immigration Law have so little regard for our law enforcement? Why do they all believe that our law enforcement officers are all so evil as to racially profile for fun? Or that they violate the law "just because"?
I am sorry, but I will trust them. Officers RARELY violate the law. They USUALLY do the right thing.

The Liberals are clouding this issue. They are keeping people ignorant as to the Origins of the Arizona Law. They are keeping people ignorant as to the real cost and effect of Illegal Immigrants in the United States. They keep changing the argument from "illegal immigration" to "immigration"... lets not lose focus.
This issue is ONLY about Illegal Immigrants and Illegal Immigration. Law Abiding Individuals have nothing to fear. Our Law Enforcement professionals are NOT in the business of violating people's rights or breaking the law.

Don't be fooled. Support stronger immigration laws in Utah.

Do Nothing Gesture

I find it completely funny (not really) how our government will completely clamp on the binders, take away our rights, and try to control everything in our lives...just to "make us safe"...or at least, make us think we are being made safe...
In this case, they are going to require ID to buy a pre-paid cell phone, something also called a "burn phone"...used by criminals, and by cheapskates...
The only problem is, they will soon just pass these phones around and sell them on Ebay, etc...
They will pass these phones around until the person using it next will be completely unaware of who used it last, and who they really got it from. Once that is done, they cannot be burned with the phone, and they can still do business for a short time with it...
It will, at best, foil current law enforcement efforts, where the attach known phone numbers to crimes...and the phones will be legal in all cases, and still on the street, instead of off the street.
This is "feel good" legislation, at its best.

Illegal Immigration

One of the most useful liberal tools is to "change the words so you change the argument".

I have 2 really good examples of this:

#1- (Truth) Utah is last in Education Funding, (Liberalism) Utah is last in Education.

#2- (Truth) You are against Illegal Immigration, (Liberalism) You are against Immigration.

As you can see, one argument is quite different from the other.

Because of the success of the Liberals in this tactic, we are constantly questioning what we are doing...
For instance, the new Arizona Immigration Law is a shining example of a State taking responsibility for something that the Federal Government is failing to deal with. The Arizona law mirrors the Federal Legislation. Yes, somehow, the Arizona Law is Racist, while the Federal Law is OK...the only difference, or the thing that makes the Arizona law "racist" is the ENFORCEMENT of that law. If you don't enforce Federal Law, it isn't Racist, but if you enforce it, THEN you are racist.

Sounds about right...

The sad part is when the idiocy starts to influence thinking people to the point that they cannot see the forest for the trees...

Salt Lake police chief to talk immigration with US attorney general

Hatch: Arizona immigration law not good for Utah

I just hope people wake up BEFORE it is too late...

I mean, really...

Obama DOES BELIEVE there is a problem, or he wouldn't be sending in troops to protect the borders...

I cannot believe some of the garbage these guys are saying:

Salt Lake City police chief pleased with DC immigration meeting
"What is the criteria then to stop somebody if it's not race, color of their skin, the language that they speak or their ethnic background?"
--DUH! You stop them when they BREAK THE LAW!!

"One third of our population, to alienate them or to treat them differently than we do other people, well that's absolutely wrong,"
--WHAT? If they are ILLEGAL or if they are LEGAL IMMIGRANTS we DO NOT treat them differently! They are required by LAW to have their papers! They are REQUIRED BY LAW to be here LEGALLY!
If 1/3rd of our population is her illegally, then YES, we treat them like Criminals because they ARE criminals!
We all know that isn't the case, but those that are "legal" and are "obeying the law" have nothing to fear! The rest, well, GET THEM! Punish Them for Breaking Our Laws! WOuld you say that we shouldn't treat the criminals in our state, regardless of race, differently than other people? Take race out of the equation! If they are IMMIGRANTS from the Planet Mars and they are here ILLEGALLY, the YES, we treat them like criminals because they ARE!

Ug!

Utah Proving Itself Again!

I like Utah. Life here, while maybe not "elevated", it is definitely "slower" than in other places I have lived. More relaxed, nicer people, and the laws are fairly good when it comes to self protection and individual rights.

The Education system is doing more with less, and the people are Religious and (for the most part) Politically active. (see ya, Bennett!)

Now, we are also seeing some other good reports (Utah is usually one of the "top ten" places to live, and here is why):

Get Gephardt Investigation: Can A Machine Really Make Your Water Healthier?

Can we say "snake oil"?

I believe in using water in your daily diet to help with "healthy living", but I doubt there is anything that you could do to your water, asside from drinking natural spring water, that could help you.

E-books not selling well at schools

I used one of these once, it was great, and saved me up to 50% on the book. I think the biggest problem is, some people don't have a laptop or whatever to read one of these books on, and others like to have physical pages, etc. But if you could highlight, make notes, etc, in the book, you could benefit from an e-book, especially if it saved you 50% or more on the cost!

Russian Officials To Investigate Regional President's Alien Abduction Claims

Ok, I think these Russians have been hitting the Vodka again...

Justice Not As Blind As Previously Thought

Interesting...do we need to blind justice? Put her eyes out? What?

Study Shows Standing Up To Bullies Is Good For You

What I want to know is HOW DO I GET THE MONEY FROM THE GOVERNMENT TO DO THESE KINDS OF STUDIES!?!?!?!?
Seriously, folks, if the Government has enough money to blow on this kind of study, they are taking too much of your money in taxes!
I mean, really, DUH!
(How about that story last year about the 3 million study about why men don't like condoms? Seriously, 3 million to figure that one out? DUH!!)

The poor state of "stimulus"

I have made many suggestions and statements as to how to fix the economy...and at every turn, Obama and his administration are working AGAINST what would really help this economy.

Recession Cuts Operation That Uses Hair To Clean Up Oil

You would think, with the amount of money they are spending on this oil clean up in the Gulf, that they could afford to get that program funded and use the resources they have available...instead...no stimulus there! Why does our government always MISS THE MARK when it comes to STIMULUS? (because it isn't stimulus for YOU and ME, but for their friends in Big Government or in Big Business...)

Tax or Bill, the Unified Police of Salt Lake County

Unpaid Police Service Fees in Salt Lake County

Unified Police bills going unpaid; businesses call fees unfair

Remember, I talked about the "double dipping" of the Police in Salt Lake County...well, no surprise here, but they aren't getting paid. People are simply sick of the constant taking of their money, without any real explanation of how or where that money is being spent. Not to mention as to WHY they are being charged twice for the same service.

So what are the Police gonna do? It isn't a tax, but a bill. How can they force someone to pay for something they may not want? How will they explain why they didn't show up to an emergency, when that is what our taxes pay for? Are they just going to stop responding? Can they?

The people of Salt Lake County need to just all together say, "No, we aren't going to pay!" Then when it goes to court, the courts will have to strike it down.

This is really similar to what will happen with Obama Care... the Government cannot force you to pay for something that isn't a tax and isn't a product or service you want or agree to pay for.

The Perverts over at the TSA

These are the people we trust with our "air safety"? It is worse than a joke...

TSA Worker Jailed In Body Scan Rage Incident

I wonder why certain questions have never been asked about this incident:

Why was the supervisor not fired for harassing a co-worker, SEXUALLY, on the job.
Why hasn't there been any follow up on the Verified Sexual Harassment?
If you can see genitalia on these scanners, what happens when someone under the age of 18 goes through them. Possession of Child Porn? Viewing Child Porn?
Why are these machines hooked up to the internet and why do they have email capabilities?
Who is watching the watchers?

Seems like someone needs to be:
Read the related stories at the bottom of the article:
And another angle of the story here:

Obama is Bipartisan

Ok, so I am taking a little license with this...
By bipartisan, I mean everyone, Democrats and Republicans, dislike him equally...

Outspoken Rocky Anderson Slams Obama in 2News Interview

If this isn't proof that Obama is getting it all wrong, I don't know what is...

Rocky Anderson was a HUGE critic of Bush, and now, he is criticising Obama.
It just goes to show what we have been saying all along...There isn't much difference between Republican and Democrat...

"There's no question that we're seeing a continuation, and even in some instances a worsening of our republic under this administration."

Which is what I have saying all along.

Obama's skeletons

We all have some skeletons in our closet, but Obama's have nearly been covered up. It is amazing what money and a lying media can do!

Mystery and Obama
Who is Obama? I know I have asked that question before, and we really should be asking it again and again! For someone so willing to "open government" to scrutiny, he is so very closed and secretive to his own information; why? He is a public official, and his information should be mad public.

We also have found out more about his "fraud", i.e. using more than one Social Security Number, getting school funding as a "foreign exchange student", some fraud going on in the Chicago Bar, and now, his Selective Service registration.

There seem to be explanations for most of all this stuff, but the question remains, why is he being so secret about the answers? Wouldn't it be easier for him to come out and give the answers, open the records, and give people what they want; the Truth?

A true American Hero

In the news recently, we have heard about the Times Square bomber, a naturalized citizen from Pakistan.
What about the other side of the Coin?
Sgt. Franco Aguilar of the Sevier County Sheriff's office was a naturalized citizen from Mexico. He died in the line of duty this last week.
He served in the Marines and the Highway Patrol and was a SWAT team member. He had a family of five children and was friends with everyone he knew.
He is the perfect example of "how to do things right", and should be held as an example to all people, not just immigrants.

O Theos Mazi Sou, Kirie Aguilar!

The XXX domain idea just won't die

I know, I know! I keep tooting my own horn on this one. But it isn't every day that I have an idea that endures this long and becomes such a big deal!

Last I wrote, they had decided to NOT do the XXX TLD, but now, they have changed their minds again, and are again taking a look at it...

Well, it is a good idea!

Global Cooling

We know AGW to be a hoax, that "man" has little to do with the current "Climate Change", but something that is becoming more and more obvious is the extent that "they" have gone to in spreading the lies to make their money...
Things like "global warming means more snow" and "global warming doesn't mean the earth will get warmer"...yes, these are things that people have said in this debate.
How about the fact that there is more ant-Arctic ice now than there has been in the recent past?

How about the fact that the same ice shelf has been falling since 1999?
How many times do we recycle the alarm over the seasonal melting of the same few thousand square miles of floating ice (ice that floats cannot contribute to sea level rise), off a continent that exceeds five million square miles in area?
Here is what one person says about it,
An excellent analysis posted on April 17th, 2009 by Ron de Haan entitled “The Antarctic Wilkins Ice Shelf Collapse: Media recycles photos and storylines from previous years,” documents how the Wilkins Ice Shelf has been reported by the mainstream media to be ominously collapsing every year now since 1999. Haan also provides satellite photography back as far as 1993 showing the end-of-summer thaws and mid-winter maximums for the Wilkins Ice Shelf. Not much has changed over the past 15 years.

Please people, don't fall for the hype!

Public Servants

I have complained about this before, but this article puts it into perspective in a very pointed way.
The politicians are taking advantage of the tax payer. We work, not to support the Government and necessary things like defense, but we work to support the politicians...

Who in their right mind would pay their "servant" better than they, themselves, are getting paid? Who could afford that?

It has definitely become an "us v. them".

The Environment: CO2 and CH4

As we have discussed, CO2 is NOT a pollutant, but did you know PEOPLE are the leading cause of CO2?

Breathing produces approximately 2.3 pounds (1 kg) of carbon dioxide per day per person.
With 307,006,550 people in the United States, that comes to 706,115,065 pounds per day.
With 6,697,254,041 people in the world, that comes to 15,403,684,294 pounds per day.

One of the best ways to combat CO2? Plant A Tree!

According to this article, however, Methane could be worse than CO2 for Global Warming!

Should we become Vegetarian to reduce Methane emissions?

I think they forgot something:
Yes, livestock produces large amounts of Methane, but if we let the populations of animals go uncontrolled, how will that reduce the number of animals?
(i.e. they haven't thought this all the way through)

I propose a couple things here.
1) Plant more trees, reduce CO2 in the Atmosphere.
2) Control animal populations by eating them
3) Find ways to recover Methane from the atmosphere
4) Recycle Animal Waste (use it for fuel, etc)

One Reason To Oppose Social Programs

When we talk about "sustainability" we are talking about environmental issues and resources...
What about MONEY?
Is the current Modus Operandi of the Government "sustainable"?

Sustainability of Socialism

"...and Socialist governments traditionally do make a financial mess. They [socialists] always run out of other people's money. It's quite a characteristic of them." -- Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, Thames TV This Week, February 5, 1976

The Federal Reserve

If you don't know about what the Federal Reserve is, you should read the following links.
Then, when you are done pulling your hair out, realize, this is something that can only destroy our country.
Elect people who are against the use of the Federal Reserve and will work to get rid of it.

How the Federal Reserve can Destroy us...

The way the Fed is taking advantage of us...

Then learn about what you can do!

End The Fed!

Ever wonder about your taxes?

Sarah Palin & Mitt Romney in 2012

NOOOOOOOOOO!

There has to be a better combination!

Actually, I think Mitt Romney and Ron Paul would be an excellent choice!

The New-New Deal

We continue to hear how the Stimulus is helping save and create jobs, yet the Unemployment Rate continues to rise. So, if jobs are being saved and created, wouldn't the Unemployment Rate FALL?
Hmmmm.

The problem is, the plan Obama has is based on a flawed idea: the idea that FDR ended the depression with the "New Deal".

by forcing taxes up and discouraging entrepreneurs from investing, probably did more harm than good.
In fact, the thing that did get us out of the depression was just the opposite,

Congress—both chambers with Democratic majorities—responded by just saying "no." No to the whole New Deal revival: no federal program for health care, no full-employment act, only limited federal housing, and no increase in minimum wage or Social Security benefits.

Instead, Congress reduced taxes. Income tax rates were cut across the board. FDR's top marginal rate, 94% on all income over $200,000, was cut to 86.45%. The lowest rate was cut to 19% from 23%, and with a change in the amount of income exempt from taxation an estimated 12 million Americans were eliminated from the tax rolls entirely.

Corporate tax rates were trimmed and FDR's "excess profits" tax was repealed, which meant that top marginal corporate tax rates effectively went to 38% from 90% after 1945.
Now, isn't that interesting?

So why is it that here -- right now -- that we feel we need to follow a failed program? One that DIDN'T work then and WON'T work now?

Why not follow what DID work, and REMOVE the taxes, and Repeal the Social Programs? THAT actually worked!

I guess it is true, “Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” Sir Winston Churchill
